After you install NCapture, the NCapture icon  should be visible on the browser toolbar at the top of your Google Chrome window.

If the NCapture Icon is not visible, it may be due to the following:

  • Google Chrome has disabled NCapture—refer to Enable NCapture for Chrome.

  • There are too many extension icons on the browser toolbar. You can expand the area on the browser toolbar to show more icons—click the right border of the address bar and drag it to the left.

Can I install NCapture without installing NVivo?

You can install NCapture on any computer that has Google Chrome 21 (or later) installed—you do not need to have NVivo installed on the computer, in order to use NCapture.

For example, you might ask a research assistant (who does not have NVivo) to install NCapture and gather Tweets with a particular hashtag and send the NCapture files (.nvcx) to you. You can then import the Twitter data into your NVivo project.
